At least 14 people, including six children, were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck near Manikpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district late Thursday night.
The accident took place on the Prayagraj-Lucknow highway under limits of Manikpur police station.
Following the information of the accident, police officers reached the spot and carried out rescue work.
Uttar Pradesh Police in a tweet said, “In a tragic incident,14 people lost their lives in a road accident in Pratapgarh last night. Senior Police officers reached the spot immediately & carried out the rescue work Our prayers & condolences for the bereaved family members & loved ones of those who lost their lives.”
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the road accident and directed senior officials to reach the spot and provide all possible help to the victims.
