US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and exchange views on various aspects to strengthen the India-US strategic partnership.
“Working together to further deepen our strategic partnership @SecPompeo called on PM @narendramodi to exchange views on various aspects of Indo-US relationship. PM will meet President @realDonaldTrump on the sidelines of the upcoming #G20OsakaSummit.”Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Pompeo, who arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday night, will hold detailed discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in the afternoon and will have a working lunch with him.
Terrorism, H1-B visas, trade and India’s missile defence system deal with Russia will be among the important issues that the two sides will discuss.
Pompeo’s visit came ahead of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and PM Modi on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, later this week.
