US President Donald Trump on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his “big” election victory, saying “great things” are in store for bilateral ties between the two countries with the return of Indian premier.
“Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory!” Trump tweeted.
“Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!” Trump added.
PM Modi also received congratulatory telephone calls from leaders across the world including Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh; Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, King of Bhutan; Dr Lotay Shering, Prime Minister of Bhutan; K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal; Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of Maldives; Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka; Vladimir Putin, President of Russia; Emmanuel Macron, President of France; Abe Shinzo, Prime Minister of Japan; Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia; Pravind Jugnauth; Prime Minister of Mauritius; Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of UAE; and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel on the victory in the General Elections 2019.
Warmly felicitating PM Modi, the leaders expressed the view that the historic mandate reflected the abiding faith of the people of India in the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Expressing his gratitude for their compliments and good wishes, Prime Minister Modi said that the general elections embodied the strength of Indian democracy, which is the world’s largest. He thanked the global leaders for their cooperation in developing mutually beneficial bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation and expressed his desire to continue to work further with them in fostering even stronger ties.
PM Modi had also expressed his gratitude to several other leaders who have extended their felicitations to him over social media and other means.
