Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the hooch tragedy which had claimed over 100 lives in the state and neighbouring Uttarakhand, an official said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked the SIT to submit its report within 10 working days.
According to an official spokesman, the SIT will be headed by Additional Director General of Police (Railways) Sanjay Singhal.
Besides finding out the reason that led to the tragedy, the SIT has been asked to explore possibilities of any conspiracy behind the incident. Moreover, to submit recommendations to ensure that no such incidents repeat in the future.
