Union Home Minister Amit Shah tests COVID-19 positive

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to a hospital on the advice of doctors.

“On getting the initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors,” Shah tweeted 

Shah also requested those who had come in his contact in the last few days, to isolate themselves and get tested.

Soon after his tweet, BJP leaders wished the Home Minister speedy recovery. 

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy in a tweet said, “I am sorry to hear from news media that Amit Shah has to be admitted to hospital because he has tested positive for Coronavirus. I wish him a speedy recovery and pray for his early discharge.”

BJP chief JP Nadda tweeted saying he is praying for the minister’s speedy recovery.

Coronavirus cases in India have crossed 17 lakh-mark on Sunday with 37,364 fatalities.
