A gunman killed two people and wounded several others on Friday at a yoga studio in Florida’s capital Tallahassee before killing himself, officials said.
Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo told reporters that a man shot six people and pistol-whipped another after walking into the studio, which is part of a small Tallahassee shopping center.
“Upon arriving at the spot, the officers found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds and the gunman was already dead.”
There were indications people fought the gunman and some tried to save others, the chief said.
The six gunshot victims were taken to hospitals. Two people succumbed to their injuries at the hospital and the other were being treated, chief added.
As per Chief DeLeo, shooting appeared to be the act of a single person, with no further threat to the community perceived at this time.
The police chief said the motive of shooter was unknown.
