Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Indian Railways has suspended a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) after a viral video showed a First AC coupe of the Mumbai CSMT–Balharshah Nandigram Express (Train No. 11002) being transformed into a lavish “honeymoon suite” for a newly married couple. The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media and prompted the Railways to order an official inquiry.
The viral video showed the private First AC cabin decorated with red and white balloons, rose petals, floral arrangements and a large “I Love You” display, giving it the appearance of a hotel honeymoon suite rather than a railway compartment. According to reports, the decoration was arranged as a surprise for a couple from Jalna, who had booked the coupe for their journey.
Railway officials said the decorators allegedly entered the train before the passengers boarded and completed the setup inside the reserved cabin. Authorities are now investigating how outsiders were allowed access to the coach and whether railway protocols were violated. The TTE on duty has been suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry.
The incident has triggered mixed reactions online. While some users appreciated the creative surprise for the newlyweds, others questioned whether public railway property should be used for such private celebrations and raised concerns over passenger safety, security and unauthorised access to reserved coaches.
South Central Railway has stated that the investigation will determine who authorised the decorators to enter the train and whether any railway staff failed to follow established procedures. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
