Tokyo Olympics: Neeraj Chopra wins ‘Gold Medal’ for India in Javelin Throw

Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw final on Saturday and became the second ever Indian, who wins an individual gold in the Olympics after shooter Abhinav Bindra.

The 23-year-old from Khandra village near Panipat in Haryana produced the second throw of 87.58m in the finals to astonish the athletics world.

This year, India recorded their best ever Olympic haul of 7 medals at Tokyo 2020. Wrestler Bajrang Punia beat Daulet Niyazbekov and won a sixth medal for India in the Tokyo Games.

India had won two silver and four bronze medals —Mirabai  Chanu and Ravi Dahiya (Silver) and PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Punia and the Indian men’s hockey team (Bronze) — in Tokyo Olympics.

Earlier, Indian golfer, Aditi Ashok narrowly missed out on bronze by one shot to Lydia Ko. She finishes fourth in the women’s individual Stroke Play.
