New Delhi: FIFA has unveiled a star-studded entertainment lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. For the first time in tournament history, FIFA will stage separate opening ceremonies in all three host nations, each showcasing local culture alongside global musical talent.
The tournament will officially begin in Mexico City on June 11, where Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy will headline the opening ceremony. Other performers include J Balvin, Tyla, Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs and Los Ángeles Azules. The event will take place before Mexico’s opening match against South Africa.
Canada’s opening ceremony will be held in Toronto on June 12 ahead of the host nation’s clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canadian stars Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara and Jessie Reyez are among the performers, joined by Nora Fatehi, Elyanna, Vegedream, Sanjoy and William Prince.
Later the same day, the United States will host its opening celebration at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles before the USA faces Paraguay. Pop sensation Katy Perry and rapper Future will headline the event, with performances from Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla. Actor Jason Sudeikis is also expected to welcome fans during the ceremony.
FIFA has also confirmed that the World Cup final on July 19 will feature the tournament’s first-ever halftime show. The performance is expected to include Madonna, Shakira and BTS, with the event being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The expanded 48-team tournament is expected to be the biggest World Cup in history, and FIFA is aiming to combine football, music and entertainment on an unprecedented scale.
