TDP to move privilege motion against PM Modi for ‘lying’ over special status to Andhra

After last week’s no-confidence motion, Telegu Desam Party (TDP) Chief Chandrababu Naidu is planning to move a privilege motion against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers for misleading the House regarding the special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

In a teleconference meeting, Naidu, TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh chief minister, on July 25 asked his MPs to move the privilege motion against PM Modi for lying in the House over the issue of special status to the state, sources said.

“Prime Minister and other Union Ministers cited 14th Finance Commission for not being able to accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. There was no such recommendation made by the 14th Finance Commission,” Naidu said via teleconferencing.

He further added that the Centre’s claims that they have fulfilled 90 percent of the promises they made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act were misleading and that the Bharatiya Janata Party had betrayed nearly five crore people in the state.

“Utilise all forums and platforms to voice our issues seeking for justice, stage protests in front of respective ministries for setting up of Kadapa steel plant, Vizag Railway Zone and funds for Amaravati,” Naidu told his MPs.

Earlier also, the TDP had moved a no-confidence motion against the PM Modi government regarding the same issue. However, the Centre won the trust vote.
