The Tamil Nadu government on Monday allowed ‘Jallikattu’ events in the state. In view of the Covid-19 infection surge, the government released detailed guidelines on the conduct of the events ahead of Pongal.
The bull taming sport is held during the festival of Pongal in January. Amidst Covid-19 infection surge only two people, the owner of the bull and an assistant will be allowed inside the arena with each bull, Tamil Nadu government said.
The guidelines released by the Tamil Nadu government allowed only 300 bull tamers to participate in the event and made full vaccination, negative RT PCR test not older than 48 hours, mandatory.
