Sushil Chandra has been appointed as a Chief Election Commissioner of India on Tuesday. The Hon’ble President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed him as 24th chief election commission.
As per the orders, he will assume the newly appointed charge of the Chief Election Commissioner on April 13, 2021. The decision came in as Sunil Arora the outgoing Chief Election Commissioner of India demitted the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner on April 12, 2021.
Chandra belongs to the 1980 batch of the Indian Revenue Service. He is also an ex-officio member of the Delimitation Commission since February 18, 2020 looking after the process in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
