Supreme Court admits CBI plea against acquittal of Talwars in Aarushi murder case

The Supreme Court on Friday admitted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) appeal against the exoneration of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the murder of their daughter Aarushi Talwar and help hemraj.

A special CBI court in the year 2013 had convicted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar for the murders and they were sentenced to life in jail.

However, in October 2017, the Allahabad High Court freed them for not having any evidence of Talwar’s being guilty.

The CBI challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court and said the court decision was wrong on many counts. The court has admitted the plea and issued the notice to the Dentist couple.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead inside her room in the Talwars’ Noida residence in May 2008. 45-year-old Hemraj the family’s live-in domestic help whose body was recovered from the terrace after two days was the initial suspect of the police.
