Actor turned politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol escaped unhurt on Monday when one of the tyres of his SUV burst on the Amritsar-Gurdaspur national highway, police said.
The actor who recently joined the saffron party was on his way for a roadshow.
BJP has pitted him against Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar.
Gurdaspur seat was earlier represented by actor Vinod Khanna who won four times on a BJP ticket.
Sunny is the third member from Deol’s family to join BJP after Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
