Sukhpal Khaira, who recently quit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Tuesday announced a new political outfit, Punjabi Ekta Party (PEP).
Khaira said that their party would be a Punjab-centric regional party.
Six Rebel MLAs- Kanwar Singh Sandhu, Nazar Singh Manshahia, Master Baldev Singh, Pirmal Singh, Jagdev Kamalu and Jagga Issowal were also present at the occasion.
Khaira resigned on Sunday from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
After Sukhpal’s resignation Manish Sisodia tweeted, “Mr Sukhpal Khaira’s resignation was expected. Party will be strengthened with his exit. He shuld now resign from MLA also, which he won on party ticket. Mr Khaira started revolting against party since post of LoP in Punjab was given to a Dalit leader.”
In a resignation letter Khaira had said that the AAP has totally deviated from its founding principles and ideology on which it was formed post the Anna Hazare movement.
Khaira said, “unfortunately after joining the party I realised that the hierarchy of AAP was no different from the traditional centralised political parties.”
