New Delhi: Amid the ongoing CJP protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, an unexpected wave of kindness has captured social media’s attention. People from across India have been ordering meals through food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy for protesters they have never met, turning the protest site into a symbol of community support.
The trend began after a Mumbai resident ordered food for protesters nearly 1,500 kilometres away with a simple delivery note that read, “Please give this meal to whoever looks hungry at Jantar Mantar.” The gesture quickly went viral, inspiring many others to place similar orders from different cities.
Videos circulating on social media show delivery partners arriving at the protest venue with multiple food packets, while volunteers distributed meals among students and demonstrators. Internet users praised the initiative as an example of solidarity, with many calling it a reminder that support for a movement can come in different forms.
The food deliveries came a day after the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, during which clashes broke out between protesters and Delhi Police. The protest, organised over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and related issues, witnessed police action, detentions and widespread political reactions. Despite the tensions, supporters online chose to contribute by ensuring that protesters had access to food and water.
As more screenshots of successful Zomato and Swiggy orders surfaced online, several social media users encouraged others to support the protesters in similar ways. The unusual campaign transformed food delivery apps into an avenue for expressing solidarity, highlighting how digital platforms are increasingly being used for acts of public support during large-scale movements.
