SPG Chief Arun Kumar Sinha passes away

New Delhi: Special Protection Group Director Arun Kumar Sinha passed away this morning at a private hospital in Gurugram. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer. Arun Kumar Sinha had also served as the security officer for both the Prime Minister and former Prime Ministers. In 2016, his tenure as Director of the SPG was initially scheduled to end, but it was extended for an additional two years.

Arun Kumar Sinha was an officer from the 1987 batch of the Kerala Cadre Indian Police Service (IPS). Indeed, Arun Kumar Sinha held a distinguished career, serving in various significant positions, including Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, South Region Inspector General (IG), Kochi Commissioner, Wayanad Superintendent of Police (SP), Intelligence Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Thiruvananthapuram Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Administrations Inspector General (IG). During his tenure as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in the state, Arun Kumar Sinha was appointed to the Special Protection Group (SPG) on central deputation and subsequently appointed as its Director.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the passing of Arun Kumar Sinha. The Chief Minister remembered Arun Kumar Sinha as an officer who had undertaken numerous responsibilities within the Kerala Police and had executed them with excellence.
