Indian Police Service (IPS) officer SN Shrivastava has been given additional charge of the Delhi police commissioner with effect from March 1, officials said on Friday.
Shrivastava, the Special Commissioner (Law and Order), will succeed Amulya Patnaik, who demits office tomorrow.
Few days ago, Shrivastava was transferred from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and appointed as the special commissioner (law and order) of Delhi Police, amid the communal violence in northeast Delhi.
Shrivastava is a 1985-batch officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
