At least seven children were feared drowned after the vehicle carrying them fell into a canal in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Thursday morning.
According to the reports, all the passengers were returning from a marriage function when the driver lost control over the vehicle and plunged into the Indira Canal in Nagram area.
A team of NDRF has been positioned for rescue operations and divers have been pressed into service.
Professional divers have so far rescued several men and women from the canal and efforts are on to find missing children.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident and directed the officials to make all possible efforts for search and rescue of people who have fallen into the canal.
