Four terrorists including the head of the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) were killed on Friday in an encounter between militants and security forces in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir. A policeman and a civilian were also killed in the crossfire.
The encounter started on Friday morning when security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Srigufwara area of the district in south Kashmir after receiving intelligence input about the presence of terrorists, a police official said.
According to reports, owner of the house died in the crossfire and his wife has been injured.
Reportedly Internet services have been suspended in Srinagar and Anantnag.
This is the first Army operation against terrorists after imposition of the governor rule in the state.
