The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
The verdict was pronounced by Justice Hrishikesh Roy.
The Top Court also ordered the Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI.
The Top Court was hearing actor Rhea Chakraborty’s plea seeking transfer of investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput death case from Patna in Bihar to Mumbai.
The Apex court said the Bihar government was competent to transfer the investigation to the CBI.
It also clarified that registration of the FIR at Patna was legally valid and adhered to the principles of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The Court said since the Mumbai police had registered only an accidental death report. It also ordered Mumbai Police to help the CBI with their investigation.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment On June 14.
The Mumbai Police said it was a suicide, adding that he was suffering from depression.
