A high voltage drama unfolded on Monday when Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was seen jumping over a police barricade and later detained along with Congress MPs Rahul and his sister Priyanka Gandhi while marching from Parliament to Election Commission of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protest march was being carried out by Opposition bloc INDIA against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of \u201cvoter fraud\u201d during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INDIA bloc’s protest march to the Election Commission of India (EC) from Parliament was met by Delhi Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the opposition’s march to the Election Commission over \u201cpoll fraud\u201d, Delhi Police had said no one has sought permission for holding the protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group of over 300 MPs from the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were participating in the march which began at around 11.30 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delhi police deployed personnel and put up barricades at multiple points along the route to maintain order and prevent any untoward incident during the INDIA bloc protest march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional security vehicles and quick reaction teams were also stationed in the vicinity of the EC office and surrounding roads to ensure smooth traffic flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protest march came days after Rahul Gandhi’s press conference of last Thursday, in which he presented what he termed as an \u201catom bomb\u201d of proofs over poll body resorting to “vote chori”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leaders protested in Deoria after the detention of Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this incident, SP leaders of Deoria gathered at Subhash Chowk intersection in the afternoon. District President of Yuvajan Sabha Ranveer Yadav called this an attack on democracy. The workers were demanding the release of Akhilesh Yadav. Traffic was affected at the intersection due to the protest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
