Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said that the government has allocated Rs 300\u00a0 crore to reduce pollution in the city in its Budget 2025-26 and 506 crore for the environment and forest department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The estimated budget of Rs 1 lakh crore focuses on key areas including electricity, roads, water, and connectivity. Gupta called it a “historic Budget” and emphasised that the era of “corruption and inefficiency” was over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not an ordinary Budget, it is the first step to develop Delhi which was ruined in the past 10 years. Delhi went down in every aspect of development in the past decade. The previous government ruined the economic health of the national capital like termites,\u201d Gupta said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 20, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the government will install six new air quality monitoring stations across the national capital over the next three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the peak pollution season from November to January \u2014 when the capital often turns into a gas chamber \u2014 AQI levels frequently hit hazardous levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the budget, the government has allocated Rs 12,953 crore which is the major chunk of the total budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A general discussion on the Budget will be held after its tabling in the Assembly. The members of the Assembly will deliberate and vote on the proposed Budget on March 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
