{"id":350274,"date":"2024-09-24T02:06:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T07:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=350274"},"modified":"2024-09-24T05:08:42","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T10:38:42","slug":"bjp-demands-siddaramaiahs-resignation-after-hc-dismisses-his-plea-challenging-guv-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/bjp-demands-siddaramaiahs-resignation-after-hc-dismisses-his-plea-challenging-guv-order\/","title":{"rendered":"BJP demands Siddaramaiah\u2019s resignation after HC dismisses his plea challenging Guv order"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2024\/09\/BJP-demands-Siddaramaiahs-resignation-after-HC-dismisses-his-plea-challenging-Guv-order.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-350275\" width=\"483\" height=\"297\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Karnataka BJP on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah\u2019s resignation after the High Court dismissed his petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot\u2019s approval for an investigation against him in a site allotment case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The party\u2019s state chief B Y Vijayendra noted that the HC has ruled that the Governor\u2019s permission is as per law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI request the Chief Minister to keep aside his charges against the Governor, respect the High Court order and, since there are allegations that your (Chief Minister\u2019s) family is involved in the MUDA (site allotment) scam, you should respectfully resign your position as Chief Minister,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Minister had challenged the approval given by the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for an investigation against him in the alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in a prime locality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the hearings on the petition in six sittings from August 19, the single judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna on September 12 reserved its verdict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Governor on August 16 accorded sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, for the commission of the alleged offences as mentioned in the petitions submitted to him by complainants Pradeep Kumar S P, T J Abraham and Snehamayi Krishna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 19, Siddaramaiah moved the HC challenging the legality of the Governor\u2019s order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karnataka BJP on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah\u2019s resignation after the High Court dismissed his petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot\u2019s approval for an investigation against him in a site allotment case.
