The Western Railway achieved yet another major landmark in its\u00a0\u2018Hungry for Cargo\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0drive \u2013 despite the pandemic \u2014 among its numerous efforts to boost business, when its Business Development Unit of Ratlam Division transported maize from Sehore.<\/p>\n

Alok Kansal, General Manager, Western Railway, stated that M\/s Radhey Shayam loaded its first outward rake of maize in bags in 21 BCN through Ratlam Division\u2019s BDU.<\/p>\n

The maize weight load of 1,332 tonnes, which was transported from Sehore in Madhya Pradesh to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, earned the Western Railways revenue of more than Rs 15 lakh, Kansal said while urging the WR staff to highlight the \u2018Tenets of Philosophy\u2019 in their working.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Hungry for Cargo\u2019 is one of the WR\u2019s tenets highlighting customized solutions for potential customers\u2019 businesses and the WR is reaching out to add more new commodities in its ambit for transportation through its policies and aggressive marketing efforts, he said.<\/p>\n

The period 1st April to 23rd November, 2021 witnessed the Western Railway transporting commodities weighing almost 1.96 lakh tonnes through\u00a0its 498 parcel special trains, which included agricultural produce, medicines, medical equipment, fish, milk etc.<\/p>\n

The revenue generated through this transportation, has been approx. Rs. 69.86 crores.<\/p>\n

Around 119 Milk Special trains were run by Western Rly, with a\u00a0load\u00a0of more than 83,800 tonnes and 100% utilization of the wagons, besides 110 Kisan Rails from various divisions carrying a\u00a0load\u00a0of about 29,000 tonnes.<\/p>\n

Similarly, 135 COVID-19 special parcel trains carrying over 26,000 tonnes transported essential commodities, besides134 indented rakes carrying about 57,000 tonnes with 100% utilization.<\/p>\n

The period from 1st April to 23rd November, 2021 also witnessed total 24,698 rakes of goods trains being by WR with 54.77 million tonnes of essential commodities \u2014 as compared to 48.75 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year.<\/p>\n

Around 52,811 freight trains were interchanged with other zonal railways, of which 26,426 trains were handed over and 26,385 trains were taken over at different interchange points, a press release stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
