West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remained unsure about being the\u00a0face of the opposition to take on the ruling BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n

It will depend on the situation, she told reporters on Wednesday\u00a0when asked if she would be the face of the opposition.<\/p>\n

The West Bengal CM said \u201cI want to help all the Opposition parties to bell the cat. I don\u2019t want to be a leader, but a simple cadre,\u201d she said on the leadership issue.<\/p>\n

She further said \u201cI am not a political astrologer. It depends on the situation, structure. I have no problem if someone else leads. When the matter is discussed we can decide. I cannot impose.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Pegasus scandal, she said the situation was more serious than Emergency and accused the Centre of being unresponsive.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverywhere they are sending ED, IT for raids. Here there is no response. In a democracy, the government has to respond.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation is very serious, it\u2019s more serious than the emergency,\u201d the Trinamool Congress chief said.<\/p>\n
