Basavaraj Bommai\u00a061,\u00a0sworn in as the 30th Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28. He took the oath in the name of God in the presence of several BJP prominent leaders.<\/p>\n

The former state Home Minister belongs to the powerful Lingayat community of Karnataka.<\/p>\n

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy,\u00a0in the presence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, \u00a0including former chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh.<\/p>\n

After he took the oath at Raj Bhawan, Bomai told reporters – \u00a0My first priority is the ongoing flood and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

He also said \u201cI would like to thank all the people of Karnataka and BJP leaders for giving me this opportunity to serve the\u00a0State Chief Minister.\u00a0 I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and our leader BS Yediyurappa for choosing me.<\/p>\n
