The Hon\u2019ble President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed him as 24<sup>th<\/sup> chief election commission.<\/p>\n<p>As per the orders, he will assume the newly appointed charge of the Chief Election Commissioner on April 13, 2021. \u00a0The decision came in as Sunil Arora the outgoing Chief Election Commissioner of India demitted the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner on April 12, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Chandra belongs to the 1980 batch of the Indian Revenue Service.
