President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed him as 48th chief Justice. He will take oath on April 24.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As the CJI, Justice Ramana will have a term till August 26, 2022.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Last month, Chief Justice of India SA Bobde had recommended Justice NV Ramana as his successor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He was born<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>in agricultural family in Andhra Pradesh&#8217;s Krishna district on August 27, 1957.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to his profile on the official website of the Supreme Court \u201che has specialised in constitutional, criminal, service and inter-state river laws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In his nearly four-decade-long career, Justice Ramana &#8220;has practiced in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, central and Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunals and the Supreme Court of India in civil, criminal, constitutional, labour, service and election matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Later, he was &#8220;appointed as a permanent Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on June 27, 2000. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He functioned as Acting Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court from March 10, 2013 to May 20, 2013. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice NV Ramana has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of India.
