In this sad hour, my thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Five people lost their lives after a major fire broke out at an under-construction building at the Serum Institute of India in Pune.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However, the fire has not impacted the unit manufacturing Covishield vaccine against COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Adar Poonawalla, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Serum Institute of India in a tweet said, \u201cWe have just received some distressing updates; upon further investigation we have learnt that there has unfortunately been some loss of life at the incident. We are deeply saddened and offer our deepest condolences to the family members of the departed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cI would like to reassure all governments &amp; the public that there would be no loss of #COVISHIELD production due to multiple production buildings that I had kept in reserve to deal with such contingencies at @SerumInstIndia.
