{"id":328982,"date":"2020-11-27T07:33:53","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T07:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=328982"},"modified":"2020-11-27T07:33:53","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T07:33:53","slug":"bombay-high-court-sets-aside-bmcs-demolition-order-to-kangana-ranaut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/bombay-high-court-sets-aside-bmcs-demolition-order-to-kangana-ranaut\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombay High Court sets aside BMC&#8217;s demolition order to Kangana Ranaut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-326201 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/kangana-ranaut.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"477\" height=\"602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/09\/kangana-ranaut.jpg 477w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/09\/kangana-ranaut-238x300.jpg 238w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/09\/kangana-ranaut-333x420.jpg 333w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 477px) 100vw, 477px\" \/>The Bombay High Court on Friday set aside the demolition notice sent to actor Kangana Ranaut by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on September 7 and 9 and called the demolition of her office as action with malafide intent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The court passed an order for a valuer to be appointed to ascertain the damage caused in the demolition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The valuer will submit a report to the court after which it will pass an order on compensation to Kangana Ranaut, the High Court said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">A division bench of Justices S J Kathawalla and R I Chagla noted that the action undertaken by BMC leaves hardly &#8220;any manner of doubt&#8221; that it was unauthorised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;The civic body has proceeded to act wrongfully and illegally against the rights of a citizen,&#8221; the bench said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Meanwhile, the actress was also asked by the court to show restrain while commenting on other people on social media and otherwise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The bench was hearing Ranaut&#8217;s petition challenging the demolition carried out by BMC at her Pali Hill bungalow in suburban Bandra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Reacting to the court&#8217;s order, Kangana Ranaut in a tweet said, \u201cWhen individual stands against the government and wins, it\u2019s not the victory of the individual but it\u2019s the victory of the democracy. Thank you everyone who gave me courage and thanks to those who laughed at my broken dreams.
