\"\"The Ministry of Education on Monday issued SOP\/Guidelines for reopening of schools after October 15 during the Unlock 5 phase.<\/span><\/p>\n

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that state, union territory (UT) governments are allowed to take a decision regarding reopening of schools from October 15.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSchools, allowed to, open must follow the guideline prepared by State\/UT Education Departments based on SOP of DoSEL. The SOP\/guidelines of DoSEL, @EduMinOfIndia comprises of two parts: I. Health, hygiene & safety ii. Learning with physical\/social distancing,\u201d the Education Minister tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nishank said that states and union territories will have to prepare the standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding health and safety precautions for reopening of schools based on the SOP to be issued by the Ministry of Education.<\/span><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0Nishank noted that the states and UTs\u00a0may adopt or adapt the SOPs as per local context and requirements,<\/span><\/p>\n

The guidelines read that\u00a0precautions should be taken for preparing and serving midday meals in schools while the alternative academic calendar of NCERT can be followed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStudents may attend schools only with the written consent of parents. There will be flexibility in attendance norms. Students may opt for online classes rather than physically attend school,\u201d the Education Minister said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo assessment till up to 2-3 weeks of school reopening. Use of #ICT & online learning shall continue to be encouraged. The SOP also provides for guidelines on ensuring emotion well being of students and teachers with a reference drawn to #Manodarpan initiative,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n
