Athawale also demanded the President&#8217;s rule in Maharashtra. Athawale said that injustice has been meted out to Madan Sharma and said that he will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and will take up the issue with him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Meanwhile, Madan Sharma reiterated that if Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray cannot run the government, then he should resign. &#8220;I request Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Ji that if you cannot run the government, then you should resign. Let people elect a government that can maintain law and order in Maharashtra,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday spoke to Madan Sharma and said that such attack on Ex-Servicemen was completely unacceptable and deplorable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">\u201cSpoke to retired naval officer, Shri Madan Sharma who was attacked by hooligans in Mumbai and enquired about his health. Such attacks on Ex-Servicemen is completely unacceptable and deplorable. I wish Madanji a speedy recovery,\u201d Rajnath tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the assaulting of a retired Naval officer in Mumbai by Shiv Sena workers is a kind of \u2018state-sponsored terror\u2019 situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Fadnavis\u2019 comments came after bail was granted to the Shiv Sena workers arrested for the assault.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">He also said that he had appealed to CM Uddhav Thackeray to \u2018kindly stop this goonda raj (hooliganism)\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The 62-year-old retired Navy officer Madan Sharma was beaten up by Shiv Sena workers after he shared a cartoon on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on WhatsApp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Sena workers were arrested in connection with the incident but were released later on bail.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Sunday met the retired Navy officer Madan Sharma who was allegedly beaten up by Shiv Sena workers.
