\"\"President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other leaders condoled the death of Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon, who passed away on Tuesday morning in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the passing away of Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Lal Ji Tandon, we have lost a legendary leader who combined cultural sophistication of Lucknow and acumen of a national stalwart. I deeply mourn his death. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,\u201d President Kovind tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

PM Modi extended his condolences and said, \u201cShri Lalji Tandon was well-versed with constitutional matters. He enjoyed a long and close association with beloved Atal Ji. In this hour of grief, my condolences to the family and well-wishers of Shri Tandon. Om Shanti.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance of public welfare. Anguished by his passing away,\u201d Modi added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defence minister Rajnath Singh also condoled Lalji Tandon\u2019s death and remembered him as one of the tallest leaders of Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe news of the demise of Shri Lalji Tandon, Governor of Madhya Pradesh and a powerful personality of Uttar Pradesh, is very painful. I had the opportunity to work with Tandonji for a long time. His long public life has been devoted to the service of the people and he has left a distinct mark through his work,\u201d Rajnath tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGrieved to hear the news of the demise of Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Lalji Tandon. With his death, the country has lost a qualified administrator and a great social worker. I pray to God for peace of the departed soul. My condolences to the bereaved family,\u201d Yogi Adityanath said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Union minister Smriti Irani also tweeted her condolences.<\/span><\/p>\n
