\"\"BJP leader and two members of his family were killed on Wednesday night after terrorists opened fire at them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police said Sheikh Wasim, his father and brother were attacked at around 9 pm while sitting outside a shop near a police station in Bandipora. All three suffered injuries in the attack and were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, \u201c#Terrorists fired upon BJP worker Wasim Bari at #Bandipora. During indiscrimnate firing Wasim Bari, his father Bashir Ahmad and his brother Umer Bashir got injured and shifted to hospital but unfortunately all the three #succumbed to their injuries.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

PM Modi over telephone enquired about the killing and extended his condolences to Wasim\u2019s family, said Union Minister Jitendra Singh.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cOver the telephone, PM @narendramodi enquired about the gruesome killing of Wasim Bari. He also extended condolences to the family of Wasim,\u201d Jitendra Singh tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

BJP National President JP Nadda described it as “a cowardly attack”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost Sheikh Waseem Bari, his father & brother in Bandipora, J&K today in a cowardly attack on them. This is a huge loss for the party. My deepest condolences are with the family. The entire Party stands with the bereaved family. I assure that their sacrifice will not go in vain,\u201d Nadda tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

BJP national secretary Ram Madhav expressed shock over Bari’s killing.\u00a0“Shocked and saddened by d killing of young BJP leader Wasim Bari and his brother by terrorists in Bandipora. Bari’s father who is also a senior leader was injured. This despite 8 security commandos. Condolences to d family,” he tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sorry to hear about the murderous terror attack on the BJP functionaries and their father in Bandipore earlier this evening,” said the National Conference leader in a tweet. “My condolences to their families in this time of grief. Sadly the violent targeting of mainstream political workers continues unabated,\u201d Omar tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the sources, all Personal Security Officers (PSOs) guarding the BJP leader were taken into custody after the attack for dereliction of duty.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
