The cyclonic storm has made landfall in Alibaug in Raigad district on the Maharashtra coast.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cNISARGA is making the landfall south of Alibag now. Strong winds (~120-140 hmph) and Heavy Rains in the Eye wall. Eye wall is fast rotating (anti-clockwise) mass of deep convective clouds wrapped around the EYE,\u201d M Rajeevan, the secretary with the ministry of earth sciences, said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;The centre of the severe cyclone Nisarga is very close to Maharashtra coast. Landfall process has started, and it will be completed during the next 3 hours. The northeast sector of the eye of the severe cyclonic storm is entering into land,&#8221; IMD earlier said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">CMO Maharashtra tweeted, \u201cAround 1500 citizens evacuated and placed in safe sturdy shelter in Alibag, Raigad this morning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in areas expected to be affected along Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">PM Modi spoke to the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat and the administrator of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and assured all possible support.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cyclone Nisarga has started making landfall in Maharashtra on Wednesday and the process will last for three hours.
