Landfall process to commence from afternoon,\u201d India Met Dept tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Lakhs of people have been evacuated in West Bengal and Odisha ahead of the landfall of Cyclone Amphan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">NDRF teams have been deployed in West Bengal and Odisha to deal with any emergency situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the response measures against cyclone \u2018Amphan\u2019 developing in the Bay of Bengal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">PM Modi took full stock of the situation and reviewed the response preparedness as well as the evacuation plan presented by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Heavy rainfall Warning:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Odisha<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Heavy rainfall at isolated places over north coastal Odisha (Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Keonjhargarh Districts) on 20th\u00a0May 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\u00a0West Bengal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Rainfall intensity is likely to increase gradually and become maximum on 20thMay.\u00a0Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places &amp; extremely heavy falls at isolated places likely over Gangetic West Bengal (east &amp; west Medinipur, south &amp; north 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hoogli, Kolkata and adjoining districts)on 20th\u00a0May and isolated heavy rain over interior districts on 21st\u00a0May, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places over Malda &amp; Dinajpur districts on 20th\u00a0May and over most of the districts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal &amp; Sikkim on 21st\u00a0May, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Assam &amp; Meghalaya<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places over the western districts of Assam &amp; Meghalaya on 21st\u00a0May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The fishermen are advised not to venture into North Bay of Bengal along and off North Odisha, West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts till 20th May 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Total suspension of fishing operations till 20th May 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Diversion or suspension of rail and road traffic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">People in affected areas to remain indoors.
