There are 58,802 active cases while 39,173 have been cured\/discharged, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Maharashtra has highest COVID-19 cases \u2013 35,058, followed by Tamil Nadu \u2013 11,760, Gujarat \u2013 11,745 and Delhi \u2013 10,054.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) yesterday said that the states and union territories cannot dilute guidelines issued for the lockdown 4.0 that will continue till May 31.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cStates\/Union territories cannot dilute restrictions imposed vide the aforesaid guidelines issued by MHA. States\/UTs based on their assessment of the situation, may prohibit certain other activities in various zones, or impose such restrictions as deemed necessary,\u201d the statement said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Government of India is pursuing its pre-emptive and pro-active approach for prevention, containment and management of COVID-19, according to official release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In terms of confirmed cases per lakh population, India has so far about 7.1 cases per lakh population vis a vis approx. 60 cases per lakh population for the world as a whole, according to Health Ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Union Ministry of Health has issued new guidelines on May 17, to the States for categorization of red\/orange\/green zones. As per these guidelines\u2019 states have been asked to categorize districts\/ municipal corporations, or if warranted subdivision\/ ward or any other administrative unit as red\/orange\/green zone as per their field assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">This has to be done based on multifactorial analysis on the combination of the parameters shared by MoHFW, which are namely, total active cases, active cases per lakh population, doubling rate (calculated over 7 days period), case fatality rate, testing ratio and test confirmation rate.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 1,01,139, with 3,163 fatalities.
