There are 46,008 active cases while 22,454 have been cured\/discharged, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Maharashtra has highest COVID-19 cases \u2013 23,041, followed by Gujarat \u2013 8,541, Tamil Nadu \u2013 8,002, Delhi \u2013 7,233 and Rajasthan 3,988.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Prime Minister Modi during his interaction with the Chief Ministers of all the States and UTs in the country had said now the effort should be to stop the spread of the COVID-19 to rural areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In his opening remarks the Prime Minister said, \u201cWe now have reasonably clear indication as to the geographical spread of the pandemic in India, including the worst affected areas. Moreover, over the past few weeks, officials have understood operating procedures in a time such as this, right up to the District level.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Prime Minister said that this understanding of the spread of COVID-19 will help the country in having a focussed fight against it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cAnd therefore, we can now further focus our strategy in this battle against coronavirus, as should be the case. We have a twofold challenge \u2013 to reduce the transmission rate of the disease, and to increase public activity gradually, while adhering to all the guidelines, and we will have to work towards achieving both these objectives\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Modi requested all the Chief Ministers for specific feedback on lockdown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cI request you all to share with me by 15th\u00a0May, a broad strategy on how each one of you would want to deal with the lockdown regime in your particular states.
