\"\"Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday asked the central government over the criteria it adopted to judge how long the coronavirus lockdown will continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sonia Gandhi thanked farmers, particularly of Punjab and Haryana, for ensuring food security by giving bumper wheat crop produce despite all odds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing a meeting of chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, she asked “what after May 17?.” The third phase of the lockdown ends on May 17.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was also part of the meeting, said, \u201cWe need to know what will happen after lockdown 3.0.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSonia Gandhi has already pointed out. CM\u2019s need to deliberate and ask as to what is the strategy of Govt of India to get the country out of lockdown?\u201d Singh asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Party leader Rahul Gandhi also spoke during the meeting and pointed out that a central piece of COVID-19 strategy is to protect the elderly, those with diabetes and heart condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanded a stimulus package from the Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUntil extensive stimulus package is given, how will States & Country run? We have lost \u20b910,000 Cr of revenue. States have repeatedly requested PM for a package, but we are yet to hear from GOI,\u201d Gehlot said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh accused the Centre of classifying coronavirus zones without consulting the state governments.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have set up two committees, one to strategise on how to come out of lockdown & other on economic revival.\u201d \u201cConcern is people sitting in Delhi are deciding on classification of zones without knowing what\u2019s happening on the ground,\u201d Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStates are facing dire economic crisis. They need to be provided immediate assistance,\u201d ,\u201d Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cChattisgarh is one state where 80% of Small Industries have restarted & nearly 85,000 workers have returned to work,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said, \u201cStates are bleeding in terms of finances, but no money is being allocated by GOI. A number of newspapers have brought out the unavailability of finances with States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
