{"id":322963,"date":"2020-05-04T09:06:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-04T09:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=322963"},"modified":"2020-05-04T09:30:46","modified_gmt":"2020-05-04T09:30:46","slug":"india-lodges-strong-protest-over-pakistan-scs-order-on-gilgit-baltistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/india-lodges-strong-protest-over-pakistan-scs-order-on-gilgit-baltistan\/","title":{"rendered":"India lodges strong protest over Pakistan SC&#8217;s order on Gilgit-Baltistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-314521 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/india-pakistan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/08\/india-pakistan.jpg 581w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/08\/india-pakistan-300x151.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 581px) 100vw, 581px\" \/>India on Monday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan for its efforts to bring &#8220;material change&#8221; in Pakistan-occupied territories in Jammu and Kashmir and asked it to vacate them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cIndia demarched senior Pakistan diplomat and lodged a strong protest to Pakistan against Supreme Court of Pakistan order on the so-called Gilgit-Baltistan,\u201d the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In a recent order, Supreme Court of Pakistan allowed the local administration to hold general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The MEA said, \u201cIt was clearly conveyed that the entire Union Territories of Jammu &amp; Kashmir and Ladakh, including the areas of Gilgit and Baltistan, are an integral part of India by virtue of its fully legal and irrevocable accession. The Government of Pakistan or its judiciary has no locus standi on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cIndia completely rejects such actions and continued attempts to bring material changes in Pakistan occupied areas of the Indian territory of Jammu &amp; Kashmir.
