{"id":322383,"date":"2020-04-17T13:13:44","date_gmt":"2020-04-17T13:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=322383"},"modified":"2020-04-17T13:13:44","modified_gmt":"2020-04-17T13:13:44","slug":"covid-19-doubling-rate-dropped-from-3-to-6-2-days-after-lockdown-heath-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/covid-19-doubling-rate-dropped-from-3-to-6-2-days-after-lockdown-heath-ministry\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 doubling rate dropped from 3 to 6.2 days after lockdown: Heath Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-320692 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/03\/virus.jpg 819w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/03\/virus-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/03\/virus-768x418.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/03\/virus-696x379.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2020\/03\/virus-771x420.jpg 771w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/>The Union Health Ministry on Friday said the doubling rate of Covid-19 positive cases in India has dropped to 6.2 days instead of the earlier three days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cBefore lockdown, the doubling rate of Covid-19 cases was about 3 days, For the past 7 days, the doubling rate of cases now stands at 6.2 days,\u201d Lav Aggarwal, a senior Health Ministry official said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;The doubling rate in 19 states and union territories (Kerala, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Ladakh, Himachal, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, UP, Karnataka, J&amp;K, Punjab, Assam, Tripura) are presently showing a higher doubling rate, which is better than the national average, which reflects that rate of increase of cases in these places has been reduced to some extent,\u201d the Ministry said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">An average Growth Factor of 1.2 since 1st April\u00a02020 as compared to 2.1 in the two weeks proceeding that (15th March to 31st March) is observed, which is about a 40% decline (2.1-1.2)\/2.1 in Growth Factor, the Ministry official said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">An increase of 1007 new cases and 23 new deaths has been reported since yesterday, with a total of 13,387 confirmed cases for COVID-19 in the country.
