{"id":318668,"date":"2020-01-07T13:43:45","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T13:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=318668"},"modified":"2020-01-07T13:43:45","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T13:43:45","slug":"nirbhaya-case-four-convicts-to-be-hanged-on-january-22-orders-delhi-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/nirbhaya-case-four-convicts-to-be-hanged-on-january-22-orders-delhi-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Nirbhaya case: Four convicts to be hanged on January 22; orders Delhi Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299573 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/law-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/law-2.jpg 534w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/law-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/law-2-80x60.jpg 80w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/law-2-265x198.jpg 265w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/>A Delhi court on Tuesday issued the death warrant against all four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">They will be hanged at 7 am on January 22 at the Tihar jail, the court ordered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The court further said the convicts can use their legal remedies within 14 days including a curative petition in the Supreme Court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Last month, the Top Court rejected review petition of Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in the gang-rape case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Court had already rejected the pleas filed by other convicts \u2013 Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh Singh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The 23-year-old paramedic student was gang-raped and brutally assaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 in a moving bus in the national capital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">She passed away at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore while undergoing the treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Delhi court on Tuesday issued the death warrant against all four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.
