In comparison during 2014 elections to State Assembly, 68 per cent MLAs had criminal cases pending against them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Sudhir Pal, State Coordinator, Jharkhand Election Watch, Association for Democratic Reforms told that out of 44 legislators against whom criminal cases were registered, atleast 34 or 42 per cent were those who have serious crminal cases pending against them. These cases relate to rape, muder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and crimes against women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Ironically, two MLAs had been declared convicted while two MLAs had declared cases related to murder against them under IPC 302 while two had declared cases of attempt to murder under Section 307 of IPC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">There are five MLAs against whom cases related to crimes against women and out of these five, two have declared cases related to rape under Section 376 of IPC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Party wise 12 out of 25 MLAs are from BJP (48 per cent), three out of three from JVM (100 per cent), 17 out of 30 MLAs of JMM (57%), one out of two MLAs of AJSU (50 per cent), eight out of 16 MLAs of Indian National Congress (50 per cent) and one MLA each from NCP, CPI and RJD (100 per cent) have criminal cases against them as per the affidavits filed by them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">When we talk about serious criminal cases, 9 out of 25 MLAs or 36 per cent who have serious criminal cases against them are from BJP, three out of three or 100 per cent are from JVM, 12 out of 30 MLAs of JMM Party or 40 per cent, eight out of 16 MLAs of INC or 50 per cent and one each from CPI, RJD or 100 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Interestingly, 69 per cent of the elected MLAs analysed or 56 out of 81 are crorepatis.\u00a0 Out of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">81\u00a0MLAs analysed during\u00a0Jharkhand 2014 assembly elections, 41 (51%)\u00a0MLAs were crorepatis. \u00a0\u00a0 Party wise crorepati MLAs\u00a0 include\u00a018 (72%)\u00a0out of 25 from\u00a0BJP,\u00a02 (67%)\u00a0out of 3 MLAs from\u00a0JVM(P),\u00a022 (73%)\u00a0out of 30 MLAs from\u00a0JMM,\u00a02 (100%)\u00a0MLAs from\u00a0AJSU,\u00a09 (56%)\u00a0out of 16 MLAs\u00a0INC,\u00a0and\u00a02 (100%) Independent\u00a0MLAs have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The average of assets per\u00a0MLA\u00a0in\u00a0the Jharkhand Assembly Elections\u00a02019 is\u00a0Rs 3.87 Crore.\u00a0The average of assets per\u00a0MLA\u00a0in\u00a0the Jharkhand Assembly Elections\u00a02014 was\u00a0Rs 1.84 crores.\u00a0 Among major parties, the average assets per\u00a0MLAs\u00a0for\u00a030\u00a0JMM MLAs\u00a0is\u00a0Rs 3.05 crores,\u00a025\u00a0BJP\u00a0MLAs is\u00a0Rs 4.79 crores,\u00a016\u00a0INC\u00a0MLAs is\u00a0Rs 4.27 crores,\u00a02 AJSU Party\u00a0MLAs have average assets of\u00a0Rs 10.26 crores and 3 JVM(P)\u00a0MLAs have average assets worth\u00a0Rs 88.84 lakhs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">About educational qualifiations,\u00a0\u00a030 (37%)\u00a0MLAs have declared their educational qualification to be between\u00a08<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0pass and 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0pass,\u00a0while\u00a049 (60%)\u00a0MLAs have declared having an educational qualification of\u00a0graduate and above.\u00a0One\u00a0MLA\u00a0has declared himself to be just\u00a0literate\u00a0and\u00a0one\u00a0MLA\u00a0is a\u00a0\u00a0Diploma Holder. As many as\u00a046 (57%)\u00a0MLAs have declared their age to be between\u00a025\u00a0and\u00a050 years\u00a0while\u00a035 (43%)\u00a0MLAs have declared their age to be between\u00a051\u00a0and\u00a080 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Out of 81 MLAs,\u00a0only 10 (12%)\u00a0MLAs are women. In 2014, out of 81 MLAs,\u00a08 (10%)\u00a0MLAs were women. Other details of MLAs also make interesting reading. The Number of re-elected MLAs analysed in the Jharkhand assembly elections of\u00a02019 is 36.\u00a0 The average assets of re-elected MLAs in\u00a02014\u00a0were\u00a0Rs 2.07 crores.
