The pilots Capt M Sheokhand and Lt Cdr Deepak Yadav ejected safely,\u201d Navy spokesperson tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cTimely action by pilot in pointing the aircraft away from the populated areas ensured Safety of life on ground,\u201d Navy spokesperson added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cAt about noon on November 16, a MiG-29K twin seater aircraft, on a routine training sortie, encountered a flock of birds after it took off from the naval Air Base at Dabolim Goa. The pilot observed that the left engine had flamed out and the right engine had caught fire. Attempts to recover the aircraft following the standard operating procedures were unsuccessful due to nature of emergency. The pilot, showing huge presence of mind, pointed the aircraft away from populated areas and both pilots ejected safely, the statement said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cAn inquiry to investigate the cause of accident has been instituted by the Navy. The pilots are safe and have been recovered.
