{"id":315075,"date":"2019-09-16T09:17:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T09:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=315075"},"modified":"2019-09-16T09:17:48","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T09:17:48","slug":"will-visit-jammu-and-kashmir-high-court-cji-on-allegations-of-access-denial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/will-visit-jammu-and-kashmir-high-court-cji-on-allegations-of-access-denial\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Will visit Jammu and Kashmir High Court\u2019: CJI on allegations of access denial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-308382 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/gogoi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"588\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/01\/gogoi.jpg 588w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/01\/gogoi-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Monday said he will visit Jammu and Kashmir to see whether plaintiffs there have difficulties in accessing the courts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;If required, I will go,&#8221; remarked the CJI when a submission was made before the court that there were difficulties in going to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Apex Court was hearing a petition by child rights activist Enakshi Ganguly and Shanta Sinha.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In this petition, detention of children in the state following the revocation of Article 370, and violations of their rights were cited.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The CJI said that the petitioners should approach the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;It is difficult to go to the High Court,&#8221; said senior advocate Huzefi Ahmadi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">CJI said, &#8220;Why is it difficult for people to approach the Jammu and Kashmir High Court? We want to know from the Chief Justice (High Court). It&#8217;s very serious if people are unable to approach the High Court.
