{"id":314827,"date":"2019-09-02T12:57:08","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T12:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=314827"},"modified":"2019-09-02T12:57:08","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T12:57:08","slug":"chinmayanand-case-sc-orders-sit-probe-into-sexual-harassment-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/chinmayanand-case-sc-orders-sit-probe-into-sexual-harassment-allegation\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinmayanand case: SC orders SIT probe into sexual harassment allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-305446 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Supreme-Court.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/Supreme-Court.jpg 660w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/Supreme-Court-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/Supreme-Court-633x420.jpg 633w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/>The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the sexual harassment allegations made by Shahjahanpur law student against BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The court also ordered Uttar Pradesh government to transfer the woman to a different college where she will continue her course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However, the court clarified that it was not expressing any opinion on the correctness of the grievances and apprehensions of the young woman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The law student was traced to Rajasthan on Friday and produced within hours before the apex Court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The top court has also directed police to provide security to the woman and her family,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The woman had been missing after uploading a video on social media alleging that a senior leader was harassing her.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In a video, she had appealed to PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their intervention to ensure justice to her. She also said that Chinmayanand had ruined the lives of numerous students and she had evidence against him, which was why she was requesting the PM and the CM to help her out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Shahjahanpur police had registered an FIR against Chinmayanand. \u00a0He was booked for kidnapping and criminal intimidation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Chinmayanand had alleged that there was a conspiracy to blackmail him.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the sexual harassment allegations made by Shahjahanpur law student against BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand.
