Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed government over the record cash transfer by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), saying the Prime Minister and the finance minister are “clueless” about solving the self created economic disaster.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also said that the move was like stealing a Band-Aid from the dispensary and sticking it on a gunshot wound.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPM & FM are clueless about how to solve their self created economic disaster. Stealing from RBI won\u2019t work – it\u2019s like stealing a Band-Aid from the dispensary & sticking it on a gunshot wound,\u201d Rahul Gandhi tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rahul\u2019s reaction came after the RBI accepted the Bimal Jalan panel recommendations and decided to transfer Rs 1.76 lakh crore in dividend and surplus reserves to the government.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala called the move a “fiscal harakiri” and asked whether it was sheer coincidence that the Rs 1.76 lakh crore borrowed by the RBI matches with the “missing amount in the Budget calculation”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIs it a sheer coincidence that the \u20b91.76L Cr borrowed by RBI matches with the ‘Missing’ amount in the Budget Calculations? Is this fiscal prudence or fiscal hara-kiri? Will this \u20b9 1.76 L Cr be used to save BJP’s crony friends?\u201d Surjewala asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Contingency Reserve of RBI meant for extreme financial emergencies & war-like situations is being used by BJP Govt to bury its monumental mess on economic front! BJP has finished RBI’s credibility!\u201d Surjewala added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Congress also in a tweet said, \u201cRs. 1.76 lakh cr given to the govt by RBI is almost the exact same amount missing from Budget 2019 announcement. Where was that money spent? Why was it missing from the Budget? Looting the RBI like this only devastates our economy further & reduces credit rating of the bank.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
