\"\"<\/a>In his address to the nation on the eve of India\u2019s 73rd Independence Day, President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday expressed confidence that Abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh in to two UTs will be of immense benefit to the people of these regions.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Kovind said, \u201cI am confident that the recent changes made in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh would be of immense benefit to those regions. They will enable the people to access and enjoy the same rights, same privileges and same facilities as their fellow citizens in the rest of the country. These include progressive, egalitarian laws and provisions related to the Right to Education; accessing public information through the Right to Information; reservations\u00a0in education and employment\u00a0and other facilities for traditionally deprived communities; and justice for our daughters by abolishing unequal practices such as instant triple talaq.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

President Kovind also said, \u201cThe illustrious generation that led us to freedom did not perceive independence only in terms of transfer of political power. They considered\u00a0it\u00a0a stepping stone in a longer and larger process of nation building and national welding.\u00a0Their objective was to improve the life of each individual, each family and of society as a whole.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Expressing confidence and belief that India will never lose\u00a0its capacity to listen to the feeblest voice, President Kovind said, \u201cI say this with the\u00a0confidence and belief that India will never lose\u00a0its capacity to listen to the feeblest voice; that it will never lose\u00a0sight of its\u00a0ancient ideals; that it will\u00a0forget neither\u00a0its sense of fairness nor\u00a0its sense of adventure. We\u00a0Indians\u00a0are a people who dare to explore the\u00a0moon\u00a0and Mars. We are also a people who\u00a0persevere\u00a0to create a loving habitat for three of\u00a0every four\u00a0wild\u00a0tigers on our planet,\u00a0because\u00a0it is characteristic\u00a0of Indianness to\u00a0empathise with nature and\u00a0with\u00a0all living beings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
