{"id":314412,"date":"2019-08-02T12:08:05","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T12:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=314412"},"modified":"2019-08-02T12:08:27","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T12:08:27","slug":"ayodhya-mediation-fails-daily-hearings-from-august-6-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/ayodhya-mediation-fails-daily-hearings-from-august-6-supreme-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayodhya mediation fails, daily hearings from August 6: Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-299685 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2.jpg 636w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The mediation process by the three-member panel in the Ayodhya dispute case has failed, the Supreme Court said on Friday, declaring daily hearings in the case will begin from August 6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, \u201ccase will be heard on day to day basis until the arguments are concluded.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The three-member mediation panel headed by Justice FM Kalifulla on Thursday submitted the report of proceedings in a sealed cover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Earlier in May, the top court had extended the time for the Ayodhya mediation panel till August 15 to explore the possibility of an amicable solution to the politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Apex Court on March 8, had appointed the three-member panel comprising former Supreme Court judge FM Kalifulla, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu to reach a consensus to resolve the Ayodhya row.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The panel started consultations in March to explore an amicable settlement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Constitution Bench, also comprising Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer said mediation may help in \u201chealing relations\u201d. Even if there is \u201cone per cent chance\u201d of settling the dispute amicably, the parties should go for mediation, the bench had said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Fourteen pleas have been filed in the apex court against the 2010 Allahabad High Court order, delivered in four civil suits, that the 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be partitioned equally among the three parties &#8212; the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The mediation process by the three-member panel in the Ayodhya dispute case has failed, the Supreme Court said on Friday, declaring daily hearings in the case will begin from August 6.
